In my last post — The Rise of the Aspie — I told a story of how one technological paradigm — broadly, software and the internet — increased the returns to an Asperger-y cognitive profile.
I don't think I've tohight of myself as a headless chicken before, but I like it!
LLMs have definitely taken over my life, and I can see the merits to the activation energy here - this does come with other downsides though. It's all too easy for me to keep responding to LLMs across 5 parallel sessions, but at some point if I let the LLM take the lead, then I'm not really understanding what I'm working on, and the agent may go off trying to have a conversation with me about some irrelevant part of the project
So it's a tricky balance
Maybe I just need some day planning / coach sesion that's holding me accountable towards what actually matters 🤷
I agree. I had a brief period last year during which I was working longer hours than I ever had but I’d walk away from my desk quite uncertain about what exactly it is that I had gotten done. But I found that correcting that problem was somewhat easier than other attention related issues I’ve had to correct in the past. (For me just writing down my thoughts on what needs to get done before I start some place away from the chat window helps). I use this app to force myself to keep writing - https://www.squibler.io/dangerous-writing-prompt-app
I feel like it's all too easy to open my agent sessions and get lost in the concurrent conversations - even if I set some goals/tasks in the beginning of the day, I often don't refer back to it and just context switch on sessions until my brain is fried
Hmm, I wonder if I could force my notion page where I think to sit right next to the terminals, so that they're both visible and the tasks/thinking doesn't get buried
(I use that same writing tool too! It's the only way I can get a first draft of a sub start article done ❤️ )
Do you use the dangerous writing app in order to force yourself to think during work stuff? Or any other use cases beyond writing?
Good thoughts here!

I'm glad that's working for you
